In Shop Fabrication
At CWF, we pride ourselves on being able to craft anything out of metal. While a majority of our work happens right here in our shop —from the large-scale pre-fabrication projects you’ve seen in previous posts to fully custom builds—this feature highlights our bespoke craftsmanship. Many of our custom builds balance utility with aesthetic design, such as the custom staircase railing recently fabricated in-house.
With five or more active projects running simultaneously, maximizing our shop footprint is essential. Between our indoor shop and outdoor yard, we handle everything from intricate metal emblems cut on our laser CNC machine to massive builds like our recent monorail track project.
Soon, we’ll be taking you on an in-depth shop tour featuring interviews with our team as they showcase our equipment and current builds.
View DetailsMonorail Custom Fabrication
This monorail structure was pre-fabricated in our shop and entirely hand-welded. While it appears to be one continuous section, we actually built four identical pieces for four separate monorail cars. Once completed, we transported them to the site for crane installation. The crane transferred each monorail car off its original track, onto our custom section, and onto a flatbed truck for interstate transport to maintenance facilities.
Because this project occupied a significant portion of our shop and yard, maintaining high efficiency and meticulous attention to detail was critical. Space was tight when welding the interior, requiring our welders to work inside the structure for much of the day. Their hard work paid off—the final design aligned perfectly with the existing track, ensuring a seamless transfer from rail to the steel structure.
